My name is Jody Flanagan and I am the Public Relations Manager for REC TEC Grills. Ive been married to my lovely wife Becky for 9 years and we have 2 sons, John Dillion and Max. I grew up in the Food & Beverage industry; working literally every job in a restaurant. Thats where I fell in love with entertaining and cooking for people. I take pride in showing someone a good time and cooking them good food.
Q1 - What’s one tool in the kitchen you wish you had and why?
A giant commercial size deep fryer. I am a fat boy at heart and would love the option to fry anything at a moment’s notice.
Q2 - What’s your biggest meal disaster?
One year on vacation we decided to cook at our rental. The house didn’t have a grill, only and oven. I decided to cook ribs for everyone, and they were the most bland and tasteless ribs I have ever cooked in my life. Everyone told me they were good, but I know good ribs when I taste them and those were NOT good ribs.
Q3 - What’s one thing you would like to learn how to make?
I’ve always admired bakers for their abilities and would love to learn how to make various breads from scratch.
Q4 - If there was one dish you would teach your kid to make, what would it be?
My oldest is a pizza fanatic so it’s got to be pizza. So much goes into making a great pizza and I feel like it’s a great steppingstone into other food.
Q5 - What does it mean to you as a dad to cook for your family?
For me, it all goes back to being the provider for my family. When I cook for my family, I know what’s going in the food. It’s the only way for us, as parents, to completely make sure that my kids are consuming good nutrients to help them grow. It’s the best feeling when you know, for a fact, that your kid consumed a fresh, healthy meal.
