Add the bourbon and egg white to a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, until the egg white is very frothy. (If omitting the egg white, you can skip this step.)
Add the lemon/orange juice, maple syrup, and a handful of ice to the shaker and shake for a few seconds to combine.
Strain into a lowball glass with ice. Garnish with a cherry and orange slice.
