A light and airy angel food cake topped with a tangy, orange glaze that is out of this world! This makes the perfect summertime dessert! So easy that even a non-baker like myself couldn't mess it up!

For the Cake
 1 ½ cups egg whites
 1 tsp cream of tartar
 ½ tsp almond extract
 ½ tsp vanilla extract
 1 ¼ cups cake flour
 1 ¾ cups sugar
 ¼ tsp salt
For the Glaze
 ½ lb confectioner's sugar
 2 oranges, zested and juiced

Prepare and Bake the Cake

Place the egg whites, cream of tartar, almond extract, and vanilla extract in a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.

Combine the cake flour, sugar, and salt and sift into a large bowl. Repeat 4 times.

Place the dry ingredients in a very large bowl, then slowly begin to fold in the egg whites.

Continue folding in the egg whites until just combined.

Pour the mixture into an ungreased angel food cake pan (tube pan).

Place in a cold oven, then set to 325°F and bake for 1 hour.

Remove from the oven and turn out onto a large serving platter.

Make the Glaze

Combine the confectioner's sugar and orange zest in a large bowl.

Whisk in just enough orange juice until smooth and pourable. (Additional orange juice may be needed.)

Slice and serve!
