Man Cooking: The Ultimate Super Bowl Chips and Dip

Even if our favorite teams aren’t playing in the Super Bowl, that doesn’t mean we can’t have a kick butt Super Bowl Party. Nothing permeates the air with unbridled testosterone than the grid iron, and that makes the Super Bowl our Christmas. Having the guys over for some football watching isn’t just about the game…it’s also about the food. The big game has a high standard, and you can’t just set out some bargain basement chips and dip…no, you need THE ULTIMATE GUY DIP.

What’s the Big Deal?

You may be asking yourself, “What’s so special about dip?” You know that you’ll have a ton of wings and pizza, but the dip is perhaps even more important. Your friends will gorge on wings and pizza in the beginning, but it’s the chips and dip that get used throughout the game. There’s only seconds between plays, so you need something that people can grab quick. Chips and dip are the go-to standard.

The Chips

We’re men, so a couple bags of chips won’t do. We need a wide variety from regular and flavored potato chips to tortilla chips and Fritos. Everyone likes different chips and their plates may be filled with three or four different kinds. The good news is you don’t have to create your own chips if you don’t want to. Homemade is always the best, but if you have a great dip, then the chips primary use will be a delivery system. You have to love utensils you can eat.

The Ultimate Guys Dip

The dip is all about meat and cheese. If you can’t feel an artery clogging when you eat it, then you did something wrong. Check out this amazing dip recipe.

Ingredients:

  • One package of processed cheese i.e. Velveeta
  • ½ pound of spicy pork sausage
  • ½ pound of beef
  • 1 jar of salsa
  • ½ cup of hot sauce
  • 3 chopped jalapenos (If you and the boys can take the heat)

In a crock pot, melt the processed cheese over low heat. While the cheese is melting, put the beef and sausage in a skillet and brown. Make sure they are cooked thoroughly. Drain the grease and then place the beef and sausage into the slow cooker and mix well.

Pour in the salsa, peppers and hot sauce into the cooker and stir.

It’s fast, it’s simple; and it’s delicious.
