Dad Chef Jake Messier is throwing down his traditional East Coast New England Lobster Boil… Super easy and crazy good!
CEO and Founder of HEARD Strategy and Storytelling – a small but mighty marketing agency based in Boston with nine employees and about 20 clients in the arts/entertainment, nonprofit and small biz space. Married to Nicole Messier (she can appear as well as she’s great on cam and I can play off her) three kids – Indy (just graduated from Hofstra University), Haley (a senior at UMaine), and Jack (heading in 6th grade). And we have two AWESOME Australian Shepherds – Amity and MayVee – both named after the movie JAWS.
Well not in the kitchen - but outside as we cook outside likely 2-3/week. A smoker. Never bought one but love the idea of smoking as a form of cooking.
Too many to count - but one time for Thanksgiving I made an apple pie (this was early on in my cooking career) and I mistook 4 tsp allspice for 4tbsp. To say it was ‘gritty’ would be an understatement.
Again - too many to count - but I would LOVE to learn how to hunt/gather and prepare wild mushrooms.
My youngest has just started getting into cooking during COVID so we’re starting with basic flavoring (why do certain flavors work well and then others definitively do not), grilled cheeses, and pancakes. I love imparting my food knowledge to my kids in whatever THEY’re interested in. I don’t want to force my culinary tastes on them. I want them to eat something, like it, and then figure out (with me) on how to make it.
It’s literally everything. I express my love for them through food. Even though COVID - I like most everyone else have been cooking A LOT. Breakfast and lunch I pretty much just take care of myself and the little guy and everyone else fends for themselves. And even though we’re all stuck in the house we all have our own routines during the day. But at 5-6pm we all gather and occasionally helps me in the kitchen and we talk about our days through prep and then all sit down together. It’s been great family time.
