Q1 - What’s one tool in the kitchen you wish you had and why?

Ice Cream maker, which now that I type this…I need to order ASAP. After standing around a fire for hours on end cooking BBQ or cooking pizzas, nothing is better than some homemade ice cream.

Q2 - What’s your biggest meal disaster?

This one is easy. My wife and I decided we’d try making a lamb stew for St. Patricks Day, I think it was 2010 or 2011. We spent countless hours researching recipes online and picked one out. We just had no experience with it at all, so knowing the good from the bad online was impossible. I don’t know if we just got unlucky with the recipe or got bad meat, or what happened, but it was the worst meal I’ve ever eaten. It has forever destroyed my desire to eat anything lamb. Funny side note, my sweet mother-in-law, who would always say the kindest things about our cooking told us to dump it down the drain…so, that’s what we did!

Q3 - What’s one thing you would like to learn how to make?

Legit, 5 star, Sushi!

Q4 - If there was one dish you would teach your kid to make, what would it be?

This is a tough question to answer as we have put considerable effort into teaching our kids many dishes, but I would choose to first teach kids how to bake something from scratch. Bread, Cookies, Brownies, Cake, Pizza, etc. Something that gets a little of everything involved: Following a recipe, weight and volume measurements, some cooking as well as a little science. Wet and dry ingredients. I think that’s the most well-rounded start we can give our kids.

Q5 - What does it mean to you as a dad to cook for your family?

It means the world to me. It’s my favorite thing to do with my family. I’ve been a corporate warrior for over 25 years and have to travel quite a bit. When I’m home, I love being able to create and serve something to them. We often do it together, smile, laugh, joke around and have fun. I’m an incredibly lucky man, because my wife loves to cook too and so, we’ve created a home where it’s one of our ’things’
