4 Waffle-Maker Recipes that Make Cooking with Daddy Fun

Cooking with daddy only has one ingredient…FUN! And if you have a waffle maker then you have a super simple way to cook with the kids without all the hassle of using the oven. Here are some of the fun things you can do with the kids, using a waffle iron, which makes cooking a lot simpler and just that much more fun.

#1 Waffle Brownies

Brownies in the oven take 30 minutes or so to make, but when you cook them on your waffle maker, they cook in about 5 minutes. We make them from scratch, and sometimes we make them from a package—either way works. Top them with some vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup for a super fun treat.

#2 Mini-Pizzas

A can of biscuits and some pizza sauce make a great after school snack. Flatten the biscuit out, place it on the waffle iron, spread on a bit of pizza sauce, sprinkle some cheese, top with a pepperoni slice, and close the lid. In just a few minutes, you will have a mini pizza ready to eat. The bigger the waffle iron, the bigger the pizzas you can make. Just be sure to spray with olive oil each time.

#3 Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Butter the bread just like you would in a frying pan, and load the sandwich up with cheese. Place in the waffle maker for a perfectly pressed sandwich. Replace the bread with tortillas for a great quesadilla.

#4 French Toast

Preparing French toast on a waffle iron is surprisingly simple. After mixing up your ingredients in a bowl, dip your bread in the batter and place on the waffle iron. Close the lid and watch carefully as the toast will cook in less than a minute.

Since waffle irons are easier to handle and cook much faster than ovens and stovetops, having the kids cooking with daddy becomes simpler and more fun. Kids can use a waffle maker long before a regular stove, and the shortened time keeps their interest. For more tips on cooking with kids visit
